What is the local currency and can I use my credit card?

Finland uses the Euro (€). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted throughout the country, including in hotels, restaurants, shops and even many taxis. Contactless payment is very common, and cash is rarely needed, though it can be useful in small rural areas or markets.

Do I need a visa to visit?

Finland is part of the Schengen Area. EU/EEA citizens (including travellers from countries such as Estonia) do not need a visa. Visitors from the UK, US, Australia, Canada and many other countries can enter visa-free for up to 90 days within a 180-day period for tourism or business. Travellers from countries that require a Schengen visa must apply in advance. It’s always best to check the latest requirements with the nearest Finnish embassy or consulate before travelling.

Are there any compulsory required vaccinations or health certificates?

There are no compulsory vaccinations or health certificates required to enter Finland for most travellers. If you are arriving from a country with a risk of yellow fever, you may be asked to show a yellow fever vaccination certificate.
