The local currency in New Zealand is the New Zealand Dollar (NZD). Credit cards are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants, shops, and most tourist services, though it’s useful to carry some cash for small purchases, rural areas, or markets.
Travellers from the UK, USA, Australia, and most EU countries do not need a visa for short visits to New Zealand. Instead, you will need to apply for a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) before you travel. This allows stays of up to 3 months per visit, or up to 6 months for UK passport holders.
There are no compulsory vaccinations or health certificates required for entry into New Zealand.
Yes, New Zealand is widely considered a very safe destination for solo and female travellers. It has low crime rates, a friendly and welcoming culture, and well developed infrastructure, making it easy to travel around independently.
